The First Academic Conference on School Anniversary in 2019

On October 9, 2019, at 14:00 p.m., the Department of Education and the National Institute of Schooling Reform and Development of ECNU held the first academic conference on school anniversary in 2019, which was called “The Passing of Fire and Fire”——30 years of teaching experience and newly recruited teachers'conference. The lecture was chaired by Mr. Huang Zhongjing.Five teachers, Huang Shuguang, Ma Hemin, Ning Bentao, Gao Xingyuan and You Yun, shared their research experiences. More than 100 teachers and students from the Department of Education and other departments participated in the lecture.

Before the start of the lecture, You Yun, a young teacher, presented flowers to thirty-year teaching-age teachers on behalf of newly recruited teachers .

The theme shared by Mr. Huang Shuguang is My teacher Zhang Ruifan's way of educating people. Mr. Huang mainly introduced Zhang Ruifan's teaching, research practice and achievements in teaching exploration and basic research of education history. Mr. Huang emphasized that Mr. Zhang Ruifan led the development direction of the discipline of educational history and created the academic paradigm of comparative history of education between China and foreign countries, which made the teachers and students deeply feel Mr. Zhang Ruifan's achievements and way of educating people.

Ma Hemin shared the theme of From Rootlessness to Root ——Some Experiences of Educational Research. Mr. Ma first introduced the three viewpoints : we are entering a rootless age of mind wandering, rootless roots lie in disorder, need to seek roots from social, educational and spiritual order. The rootless drifting age has caused problems in life. The root cause is the crisis of education. Then Mr. Ma analyzed why life is rootless from two aspects: the important variables affecting life and the four difficult problems of life. Then he tried to put forward his own thoughts and suggestions on how to move towards a rooted life from the macro level of society, the level of education system and the level of school education. Finally, Mr. Ma said that rooted life needs four core qualities: kindness, courage, wisdom, beauty.

The theme shared by Mr. Ning Bentao is Why is New Labor Education Necessary and Possible in the New Era? Based on the proposition of labor education under the background of five-education integration, Mr Ning defines the core concepts of labor, labor education and new labor education, and the formation system of labor education, and analyses the core of the quality of labor education in primary and secondary schools. He said that strengthening the value education of labor education is an important part of the school, and explained it in detail with three typical cases.

The theme shared by Gao Xingyuan is Promoting School Education Improvement through Empirical Research. Starting from reviewing the PISA 2015 test, the results of our students in PISA 2015 and the CPS performance in PISA 2015, Mr. Gao proposed the thinking triggered by PISA 2015: We still have a gap with the world's top-class level, Why can we achieve today's results, whether this path can be relied on and How to change our school education in the future. Focusing on how to change our school education, Mr. Gao elaborated on the theoretical basis of performance system, the origin, development form, regulations, advantages and limitations of performance system reform in the United States. In his opinion, standardization alone is not enough, and it needs some compulsory force, while performance system can provide compulsory force; strong performance system can improve students' performance in the short term, but in the long run it will hurt students' long-term development, and school organizations will lose vitality. So we need to find a third solution. He said that traditional schools should be transformed into learning organizations with lasting innovation, and made a detailed explanation.

The theme shared by You Yun is Learning from East Asia? —— Western Expressions of East Asian Education and the Possibility of Transcending Western Perspectives. Ms.You mainly report from three aspects: the British expression of education in East Asia, the Western-led system of knowledge production in education, and the possibility of surpassing the Western . She focuses on Learning from East Asia, “Reverse Education Policy for Reference, A new Orientalism and What can we get from China's own philosophical and theoretical resources to introduce her method, process and results of her research.

Huang Zhongjing mentioned in the summary that this report reflected the inheritance of learning and the perspective of Chinese and western, and broadened the students' horizons to a certain extent.
