The fourth seminar about a Major Project of the National Social Science Fund named ‘The comparative study on the main indexes of educational development and development trends of China and OECD’

9:00 a.m. on 31st May, the fourth seminar about a Major Project of the National Social Science Fund named ‘The comparative study on the main indexes of educational development and development trends of China and OECD’ leaded by Professor Huang Zhongjing was held in room A204 of the science building. The research group members Professor Zhang Letian and Shao Zebin from Nan Jing Normal University, Doctor Deng Li from ECNU, researcher Du Xiaoli from Shanghai Institution of Education Sciences and several postgraduate students attended this seminar. Besides, Professor Huang Zhongjing held this seminar.

First of all, Professor Huang reported the research goals, research framework, the content of sub-projects, outcomes, requirements of the concluding reports and future plans. Then, the heads of each sub-project reported their groups’ research results and interacted with each other. All participants reached an agreement on the writing framework. Firstly, focus on the indexes of OECD, define their connotations and find out the development trends. Secondly, compare the China with the OECD by selecting some key indexes, then analyse the advantages of educational indexes of China as well as reflect the weaknesses. Lastly, provide policy recommendations for the development of ‘2035 education’ in China.

Professor Huang Zhongjing, the chief expert of this project, expressed thanks to participants for their hard work and active participation. What’s more, he made a brief conclusion about this seminar. The first aspect was that the purpose of the research should be high, we should compare and refer under the global government context, based on achieving the modernization of education. Secondly, the research should keep pace with the times, since the index system of OECD has already changed, we ought to use the up-to-the-minute data and think the reason for changing. Finally, group members should enhance the cooperation with each other, striving for improving the influence of the group by making some breakthroughs in the research results.
