At 9:00 a.m. on May 20, Nicholas Pace, the head of the Department of Educational Administration of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Elizabeth Niehaus, Xia Jiangang and Shavana Holman, visited the Department of Education, ECNU. Huang Zhongjing, the head of the Department of Education, Huang Shuguang, Ju Yucui, Cheng Liang, Wang Lijia, Li Lin and Gao Xingyuan, attended the symposium. The meeting was chaired by Li Lin.

Professor Huang Zhongjing welcomed Professor Nicholas Pace and other teachers, and briefly introduced the Department of Education in terms of talent cultivating, faculty, student structure, scientific research, international exchanges and social services. Professor Nicholas Pace said that the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and East China Normal University had a good tradition of cooperation. He cherished the opportunity to visit the Department of Education and hoped to take this opportunity to strengthen practical cooperation between the two departments.

Subsequently, the teachers of the two sides introduced their respective research fields and expertise, and focused on the areas and possibilities of cooperation between each other, including cooperation in the development of online courses, the selection of students for short-term study abroad, the joint cultivating of graduate students with two degrees, and the preparation of annual round tables. These discussions are in good agreement with the ongoing construction of all-English majors, academic week projects and annual international conferences of the Department of Education (the Institute of Schooling Reform and Development). This symposium will lay the foundation for further consultation and negotiation.

In his final summary, Mr. Li Lin expressed his belief that the cooperation between the two departments would be smoother and more fruitful in the future, based on the existing projects and experiences of international exchanges between the two sides. Professor Nicholas Pace said he was looking forward to practical cooperation between the two sides to build a bridge for the exchanges and development between teachers and students of the two departments, and even between regions.
