The first conference of the staff and graduate students in the new semester was held by Department of Education in the Liberal Arts Building and Science Hall in the afternoon of March 1st. Huang Zhongjing (Chair of the Department), Wang Lunxin (Party Branch Secretary of the Department), Bu Yuhua (Deputy Chair of the Department), Cheng Liang (Deputy Chair of the Department), Dong Xuan (Party Branch Deputy Secretary of the Department) attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Prof. Wang.
At the teachers’ meeting, firstly, Prof. Huang reported to the teachers about the situation of unit assessment which was organized by Faculty of Education in the last year. In general, there are both achievements and improvements.He said that appropriate measures were taken to enhance the quality of graduate education which was the main work of the Department in 2016. In 2017, we will continue to strengthen this work, and focus on improving the construction of talent team and discipline development.
Then, Prof. Cheng reported to the teachers on the work he was in charge of. He particularly introduced the new provisions of graduate thesis of the University and the Faculty, reminded teachers to strengthen their own students’ management, and strictly controlled the quality of thesis. Prof. Bu made a report on the international exchanges and social services to the teachers, reminded teachers to pay attention to international exchange policy from the University and Faculty, and carry out more activities in academic exchanges.
At the graduates’ meeting, Prof. Huang gave a brief introduction about the achievements and problems of the Department in 2016 and the main work of the year in 2017. He hoped that the students could improve their scientific research ability in the new year.
Prof. Bu made a statement about social services and international exchanges, summed up the experience of the students in the based school’s teaching and research practice. She stressed the importance of communication with the schools’ principals and teachers, students’ professional quality also needed to be improved. On International exchanges, she encouraged students to have academic confidence, to dare to speak, and to declare academic exchange programs actively in order to broaden their academic horizons.
Prof. Cheng mainly introduced the requirements and recommendations of paper writing to the students. He hoped that early preparation should be made for paper writing, according to their own professional and interests. He reminded students to pay special attention to the process including pre-defense, repetition rate detection, blind trial, thesis defense, etc. so as to avoid the failure of graduation because of the paper writing.
Associate Prof. Dong made a speech on the work of the students. He introduced many activities would be carried out by the Faculty and the Department in the new semester, and encourage students to participate actively. For graduating class students, Mr. Dong encouraged them to adjust their state of mind, and seek employment opportunities actively.
Finally, Prof. Wang made a summary. He hoped the students could make early preparation for studying and living, facing difficulties bravely.
Through this conference, the students learnt more details about the Department, so they would be clear about their academic goals, and look forward to a new harvest in the new year.
