Wang Haiping—Secretary of the Party Committee of Faculty of Education at ECNU—came to our department to give instructions and took part in the symposium which was held by our department for young teachers on 8:30a.m. March 1st. Huang Zhongjing (Chair of the Department), Wang Lunxin (Party Branch Secretary of the Department), Bu Yuhua (Deputy Chair of the Department), Cheng Liang (Deputy Chair of the Department) and 6 young teachers attended the symposium.
Firstly, Prof. Huang extended a warm welcome for Secretary Wang. Then, he made a brief introduction about our department, such as teaching staff, discipline construction, and developing direction, etc. Be aimed at the construction of teaching staff, Secretary Wang said that the department should make full use of existing resources and advantages, strengthen the introduction of high-level talents, optimize the structure of talents, and rely on discipline and specialty to continuously inspire the potential of teachers.
When talking about the development of young teachers, Secretary Wang pointed out that we should give them enough time to get familiar with all aspects of the school and be absorbed in their teaching and research.
In addition to support the aspect of teaching and research, Secretary Wang said that we need help them to solve their problems of daily life. For example, they would be faced with the problem in reality—picking up their children from school, and in order to reduce their stress, Faculty of Education considered to open some parts of the public space for their children to learn and play.
Secretary Wang was particularly concerned about the health problems of teachers, she hoped that more works should be done by the Teachers’ Union for our teachers, such as organizing exchange activities, strengthening teachers’ emotional connections, and creating amiable working atmosphere for them, etc.
The symposium lasted for 2 hours. Secretary Wang solved a lot of puzzles which confused our teachers for a long time, and provided some suggestions aimed at common or individual problems which were put forward by her were useful and practical. Undoubtedly the teachers were inspired and encouraged a lot.
