On Oct. 12 and 13, two lectures were successfully offered by Department of Education and The National Institute of Schooling Reform and Development. It were attended by more than fifty teachers and students from different departments and faculties. The speakers were well-prepared and students were absorbed. The more such lectures, the better.

Professor O'Sullivan of Ireland lectured on Exploring Quality in Early Childhood Education Through Drama. At first, she introduced global education policy backgrounds, interpreting current educational standards and development goals in an international perspective. When it comes to early childhood education in China, she thought it was profoundly affected by social and culture changes, which drew more and more Chinese attention. She highlighted the importance of fun and interesting learning ways in early childhood education when focusing on drama influence on early childhood education. She said drama was a form of art that required whole-hearted participation, which had strong implications for the early childhood education.

By giving a passionate lecture, Professor O'Sullivan deeply moved the audience who actively asked more questions and fully answered by her. At last, Professor Yang Xiaowei, host of the lecture, presented a gift to Professor O'Sullivan to express our thanks for her wonderful lecture.

British Director Cooper lectured on “Sign and Symbol -- The Relationship between Drama and Play”. At the beginning, the chief executive of Cooper, known for his actions and practice, used a banana to present the concepts of sign and symbol. When it comes to drama, he thought it was not only a skill, but also a ability that only our human being could have related to our lives, our thoughts and our opinions; and games were not only for fun, but also a kind of children’s self-education.

The lecture ended with the question-and-answer activity. Professor Huang Zhongjing, host of the lecture, sent a gift to Director Cooper and expressed our thanks for his high-quality and easily-understood lecture.

These two lectures were popular among teachers and students. And there will be more excellent lectures for you.
