9:00 a.m. On April 3, 2019, an On-campus Consulting Conference at Department of Education, East China Normal University on the construction of Full-English major was held in Room 906 Liberal Arts Building. Chen Lingxi, Director of the Graduate School Training Office of East China Normal University, Wang Gang, Vice Director of the International Education Center, Sun Qi, Director of the Graduate School Program, Liu Xiaoling, Officer of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Graduate School, Huang Jin, Managing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Education and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, Yang Fuyi, Director of the Department of International Affairs, Zhao Qi, Director of the Department of Teaching Affairs, Cai Shangzhi, Department of Teaching Affairs, Huang Zhongjing, Chair of the Department of Education, Cheng Liang, Deputy Chair of the Department of Education ，Li Lin, Deputy Chair of the Department of Education and Peng Xinqiang, Professor of the Peak Lecture of the Faculty of Education, were invited to attend the meeting. The consultation meeting was chaired by Cheng Liang.
According to the agenda, Huang Jin delivered a speech. She introduced the internationalization development of the Faculty of Education from the aspects of the proposal of internationalization strategy of the Faculty of Education and the promotion of the ten action plans. She also explained the construction of English courses at the level of the Faculty of Education and affirmed the preparatory work for the construction of English major in the Department of Education.
Huang Zhongjing introduced the background of English major construction in the Department of Education. On the one hand, with the promotion of China's international influence and the introduction of the "Belt and Road" national strategy, the demand for foreign students to study in China is increasing. On the other hand, with the continuous promotion of the internationalization strategy of the university and the Faculty of education, the construction of the full English major in the Department of Education can be strengthened. The Department of Education will actively promote the landing of this project under the leadership and support of the Faculty of Education.
Li Lin explained the construction plan of English major, including professional orientation, professional objectives, curriculum design, teaching staff, cultivating process and so on. He said that the three major links of professional construction - enrollment, cultivating and graduation need to be designed comprehensively, and the specific problems in each link should be refined and clarified.
Subsequently, the leaders and teachers at the meeting exchanged extensively around the characteristics, advantages, name establishment, enrollment promotion, curriculum construction and cultivating mechanism of the full English major construction of the Department of Education, and made clear the direction and process of the next step, which laid a good foundation for the start and operation of the project.
