The Delegation from Department of Education(National Institute of Schooling Reform and Development) Made a Visit to America for Cooperation and Exchange

Prof. Huang Zhongjing (Dean of  the Department), Prof. Yang Xiaowei(Dean of  the Institute), Prof. Huang Shuguang(Vice-Dean of the Institute) and Prof. Ju Yucui who are from the Faculty of Education, ECNU flew to America for attending cooperation and exchange activities with an invitation from School of Education in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and University of Nebraska-Lincoln from December 2 to 8, 2018.


At the University of Illinois at Champaign, The delegation had a friendly conversation with Ms. Allison Witt and Ms. Wei Liu(Deans of International Affairs of the School of Education), Prof. James D. Anderson(Dean), Prof. Christopher Span and Prof. Lisa Monda-Amaya(Vice-Dean) , Prof. Kathy Ryan(Assistant of Dean), Prof. Yoon Pak(Dean of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership), Prof. Nich Burbules(Philosophy of Education) and Prof. Sarah McCarthy(Department of Curriculum and Instruction) who are from the School of Education. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on summer school projects, online courses, mutual visitings between teachers and students, double degree projects and cooperative researches and they reached a preliminary intention for cooperation and exchange. During this period, the delegation also visited the School's Teaching and Learning Innovation Laboratory.

At the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, the delegation had a friendly conversation with Prof. Julie Thomas(Vice-Dean of the College of Education and Humanities), Dean Maegan Stevens-Liska of the School's International Exchange Department and Mr Jim Benes, Prof. Pace Doll(Dean of the Department of Education Policy), Prof. Guy Trainin(Dean of the Department Preschool Education), Prof. Beth Miehaus, Prof. Kelley Buchheister, Prof. Christina Yao, Prof. Yingying Wang and Assistant Professor. Jiangang Xia of the School of Education. The two sides had extensive exchanges on student exchange projects, academic conferences and online courses, etc.. They also discussed the contents and forms of future cooperation and reached a consensus on cooperation. In the meanwhile, the delegation also visited the Center for Brain, Biological and Behavioral Sciences (CB3), the Creator Space and VR Laboratory. They were impressed by the interdisciplinary research and web-based courses of the university.


University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), founded in 1867, is a world-renowned top research university known as Public Ivy. The cooperation between ECNU and UIUC has a long history, and the two sides have formed a solid cooperative relationship.


University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), founded in 1869, is a well-known public comprehensive university in the Midwest of the United States. It is Warren Buffett's alma mater and belongs to the Big Ten.
